CRAZY OTTO MUSIC REISSUES FOUR ALBUMS FROM THE KING OF RAGTIME.

JOHNNY MADDOX'S '70s RECORDINGS NEWLY RELEASED ON THREE CDS

MEMPHIS, TN. --Crazy Otto Music is proud to re-release for the first
time in more than 25 years, four classic albums from the catalog of
Johnny Maddox, the beloved King of Ragtime piano. Covering three CDs,
this new set of reissues is culled from Maddox's extraordinary output
in the 1970s. All the albums are making their debut on compact disc.
Together these three releases spotlight Maddox at the top of his
performing powers and are a fascinating survey of early 29th century
popular music.

SONGS THAT MADE THE FLAPPERS CRY features Maddox accompanied violin
and cello on a set of sentimental parlor songs from the Roaring '20s.
This 1978 recording was thought lost but was recently discovered in
Johnny's attic.

SALUTE TO THE JAZZ AGE is a jam session with Maddox and clarinetist
Vern Baumer (Big Tiny Little, the New Orleans Jazz Gathering)
interpreting favorites of the Lost Generation, including the first
blues song ever recorded, Mamie Smith's "Crazy Blues," and the
bittersweet jazz ballad "Do You What It Means To Miss New Orleans."

Finally, SUNFLOWER SLOW DRAG SUNFLOWER SLOW DRAG combines two classic
Maddox full-length ragtime releases - AMOUREUSE and TRES MOUTARDE - on
one CD, featuring Johnny's interpretations of W.C. Handy's "Memphis
Blues" and the immortal "Frankie and Johnny."

It isn't really. For instance, "St. Louis Blues" by the Ciro's Club
Coon Orchestra and "Alcoholic Blues" by Billy Murray were recorded
before it was.
